FAQs
• WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A JAM AND A JELLY?
• The difference between Jams & Jellies is really simple. A Jam utilizes the whole fruit or berry in the process (excluding pits and skins) and Jellies use only the juice of the fruit or berry.
• Jams contain bits of fruit and/or seeds while Jellies are smooth.
• WHAT DO YOU USE TO SWEETEN YOUR JAMS & JELLIES?
• We use only natural sugar to sweeten our products. We never let High Fructose Corn Syrup anywhere near our products.
• WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOY AND PARAFFIN WAXES?
• Soy wax is derived naturally from the soy bean plant making it a sustainable resource. Paraffin is derived from petroleum which is a non-sustainable resource.
• Soy wax gives a cleaner burn than paraffin which means less smoke and soot.
• Soy waxes hold fragrance really well and, I think, better than most petrol based waxes.
• Soy wax has a lower burn temperature than paraffin and tends to burn longer when properly maintained.
• WHAT IS THE WICK MADE OF?
• Our wicks are natural fiber. They are made with paper and cotton and coated in natural wax (i.e. not paraffin) When properly cared for they produce a great match for our soy wax.
• HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY CANDLE?
• First and foremost, never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 inch for the most efficient burning experience.
• Never burn for longer than 4 hours at a time.
• Cover your candle between burns to avoid scent evaporation.
• MY CANDLE/ WAX MELT HAS A FROSTED LOOK TO IT. WHY?
• This is an indication of your candle/melt being made of natural wax. We at Montana Jam & Candles don’t use color stabilizers as an additive to our products. Frosting is a natural occurrence and doesn’t affect the quality or performance of your candle in any way.
• Frosting is very common in 100% natural waxes and it is caused by the wax recrystallizing.
• Enjoy the added character :)
